Marinas provide recreational and economic benefits for society as a whole. As a result of the popularity of shipping water and other core activities, food banks of the Navy are areas of heavy traffic and generate large quantities of petroleum based hazardous products.

Marina owners are required to maintain an effective plan to prevent spills, including environmental safeguards that prevent degradation of water systems.

A variety of technologies and products that are available that can help prevent these industries or at least mitigate some of these environmental problems are inherent. Most owners of marinas implement an aggressive program of environmental protection in the areas of containment of oil spills.
