Does Anyone have Any Tips for Fishing Lake Mead?

3
Irish Eyes asked:

I'll be there for 1 day: Monday 3/19/07 from 8AM - 12PM.

I'll be renting a 17' boat with a 40hp 2-stroke outboard. The boat will be rented from Lake Mead Marina.

I would like to fish for stripers and/or largemouth bass. I would like information on the spots that I can easily get to from Lake Mead Marina and how to fish them for stripers and largemouths. Thanks for your input.

If you’re lucky, you’ll pull up a B-29.

Down Riggers is the way to go.Shallow water may produce some fish but the best bet for large fish is to fish deep.

Lake Mead is a deep clear lake so the fish can be pretty spooky. Fortunately, this can be one of the best times of year to fish it, the Pre-Spawn. Largemouth bass will be moving into shallow bays and coves to scout out areas to spawn. Bring the polarized glasses and search for bass making beds. When you spot one, try using a shaky worm, or stickbait and making a long cast past the bed and dropping the bait onto the bed.

check out this link and go to the report for March 2005, expect similar conditions at this time.

Good luck! I’m jealous. I won’t be catching bass for another month where I live.
