Striper Fishing in Lake Pleasant, AZ! Need Some Help?

2
Jeremy H asked:

I'm looking to go out in the boat this next week to Lake Pleasant and try some striped bass fishing, but need some advice on how to go about catching some. Always caught them by accident when catfishing or largemouth fishing but would like to dedicate a day to trying to catch these suckers only. Any info would be GREAT! Stick to the main lake channels or backs of coves? Anchovies for bait? Rigs?

Thanks a ton!

Right now your best bet would be shallow water, back coves if they are at all shaded and clear water.

Anchovies are good, but shad is better. I would also recomend that you get some garlic oil extract and spray a little tiny bit on your bait before casting, it works well.

Take the loose end of your line and place in this order:

Bead
slider
bead
swivel clasp
hook your leader onto the clasp

Your leader should be around 24 inches

Use 15 pound test, moss green color for lakes

Use this knot to tie everything:

Good luck

get some live shad if you can. my latest striper foray here in so cal, they were in the main channel about 30′ deep near the shoreline. l would imagine temps. should be similar so l would start in about the same type of area. in any case, if you can find the schools of bait, you should find the fish. locate the bait with the depthfinder of your boat or the flocks of birds.
