What is a historical or current sailing boat (or yacht)?
And how to they work? How does the combination of wind, sails, hull, steering, and keel work together? How does the force provided by the wind is "used"?

My sailboat is a current sail boat that has sailed on the Atlantic, Chesapeake and Lakes Erie and Ontario.
The sails catch the wind. The keel keeps it from moving sideways as the wind slips off the sails. The keel is weighted so it stays upright, it is steered by a wheel connected to a rudder.The wind hits the sail providing a center of effort. The keel being in the water offers a center of resistance. To escape these forces the boat slips forward. The sails and rudder are adjusted to keep on course.
