What is the best truck to purchase and fix up?
I am interested in purchasing an old truck to haul yard waste, and tow a small trailer. Eventually, I'd like to buy a small boat and possibly use this truck to tow it to a near by lake. I was thinking about a 1/2 ton truck. Bottom line, I'd like to get a truck that is easy to work on. I do not have any experience working on cars/trucks, so I would need to buy a Chilton's guide (and some more tools). I don't need anything fancy (no power locks, no power windows). It can be either auto or manual. I'm looking for any suggestions.
I'm looking to spend about $3000 on getting an old truck. I want it to last for several hundred thousand miles. I was thinking an eight cylinder.
Any old Toyota will last you forever.
Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tundra for example. Get a stick shift.
Easily last you 200,000 with minimal repairs.
